Dr. Lauren Shefrin, DMD

Dr. Shefrin was born in Detroit, Michigan, but grew up in Orlando, Florida. She was a Dean’s List student and a member of Florida Scholars in college. In addition to doing research in the University of Florida microbiology laboratory, she worked at Disney World where you might have seen her in costume as either Chip, Dale, Roger Rabbit, or Gonzo! After dental school, Dr. Shefrin continued her education with a one-year General Practice Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, followed by a one year fellowship in Endodontics at the University Of Florida School Of Dentistry, and then a further year of Endodontic study back in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She now lives in Cumming with her husband and their children Abby and Seth. In her spare time, she enjoys vegetable gardening, Mediterranean cooking, and various home craft. Dr. Shefrin is active as an officer in the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity, and is a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association and Northern District Dental Society. She particularly enjoys the challenges of endodontics and cosmetic dentistry and loves helping improve her patients’ smiles and lives.

Dr. Jozef Soltis, DMD

Dental School: Boston University 2000 / DMD
Undergraduate School: University of Massachusetts B.S. Bio-Technology, 1996

Dr. Soltis came to the United States for a vacation over 14 years ago and decided to make it his home. He enrolled in undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts where he majored in Bio-Technology. After graduating from dental school in Boston, Dr. Soltis served in the U.S. Air Force practicing dentistry at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.; Aviano Air Base in the Italian Alps; and F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. While in the Air Force, he developed advanced surgical, endodontic, and restorative dental skills.

Upon leaving Cheyenne, Jozef and his wife, Laura, chose to settle in the Atlanta area with their two daughters, Sofia and Olivia, and their Golden Retriever, Dante. Dr. Soltis loves the outdoors! When he isn’t treating patients at DentFirst you might find him playing tennis, hiking, cycling, or mountain biking. Besides English, he can converse with you in his native Czech, Italian, as well as most of the Slavic languages!

Additionally Licensed by the State of Georgia Board of Dentistry so that he can offer “Sedation” to his patients who need special calming during dental procedures. Patients can visit Dr. Soltis at the DentFirst Cumming and Mall of Georgia locations.

Dr. James E. Talbot, DMD

Undergraduate School: University of Georgia, 1981/Zoology

Dr. James “Jimmy” Talbot was born in Tate, Georgia and grew up in both Cobb and Ellijay. He attended Undergraduate school at the University of Georgia where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Zoology in 1981. Following the completion of his degree, he attended Dental School at Northwestern University and graduated in 1986. Dr. Talbot has three sons, all musicians. George is 26 and getting his doctorate in music at the University of Hong Kong. Austin, 22, is at Berry College and majoring in voice and low brass. Nathan, 20, is also at Berry majoring in percussion. Dr. Talbot enjoys gardening, golf and being involved in community activities. Faith is important to Dr. Talbot and he has served several positions within his church. He also served two terms on the Gilmer County Board of Education.

Dr. Talbot is trained in oral sedation and has extensive training in endodontics. He is extremely passionate about General Dentistry because he is able to provide a wide range of treatment and services to his patients. Whether it is a single tooth filling or full-mouth rehabilitation, Dr. Talbot loves being able to walk his patients through their treatment so they understand what is happening and how it will help.  Patients can visit Dr. Talbot at the DentFirst Smyrna and Kennesaw locations.

Dr. Christine Thaiya, DMD

Dr. Thaiya was born and grew up in Nairobi, Kenya. Since her father was an airline pilot for Kenyan Airways, she traveled extensively throughout the world. In high school, Christine was a part of the varsity tennis team and played at the Junior National Tennis competitions. Encouraged by her family dentist, Dr. Thaiya decided that her future career would also be in dentistry. Even though she attended both college and dental school in the Ukraine, Russia, she never could get used to the harsh winter weather (ask her how cold was it…) After graduation from Dental School, Dr. Thaiya had a two year Dental Internship in Nairobi, followed by advanced training in Washington, D.C. at Howard University, and then in Baltimore at the University of Maryland. It was here that she gained considerable experience in both Implant Dentistry and Endodontics.

Dr. Thaiya now lives in Alpharetta with her husband and their two young children (a son and a daughter). In her spare time, Christine enjoys tennis, reading nonfiction biographies, watching movies, travel, and is active in the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Dr. Thaiya is a member of the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, Northern District Dental Society, as well as the Association of Kenyan Professionals, and loves all facets of restorative and surgical dentistry. She speaks fluent English, Russian, and Swahili.

Dr. Morgan Chad Triggs, DMD

Undergraduate School: Boston University 1990

Although he is originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Triggs chose to continue his education at Boston University where he could take advantage of the opportunity to explore new surroundings and meet new people. After completing his undergraduate studies in Biology and Psychology, Dr. Triggs moved back to Tennessee to attend the University of Tennessee Dental School and graduated in 1994.

He relocated to the Atlanta area in 1994, to be closer to his sister, Aunt, Uncle and six cousins. Dr. Triggs’ professional interests include all aspects of dentistry with a focus on aesthetics. The result of his exquisite cosmetic work and exceptional attention to detail are a part of Dr. Triggs’ dental portfolio, an outstanding collection of before and after photographs, which can be found in our reception area.

Dr. Triggs has taken many continuing education courses in dental implant restoration. Restoring broken or missing teeth with dental implants has been an exciting focus for him. When he isn’t practicing dentistry, Dr. Triggs, enjoys hanging out with his Labrador ,Coal, following the Atlanta Braves, white water rafting, or planning his next adventure. Ask him about his trips to England, Switzerland, Greece, Italy, and Scotland. Dr. Triggs joined DentFirst in 1999. Patients can visit him at the DentFirst Johns Creek office.

Dr. LeChandre Wadley, DMD

Dr. Wadley was born in Macon, Georgia and grew up in Columbus. She is married and has three children, two boys and one girl. Dr. Wadley enjoys helping others and volunteers her time and services at health fairs as well as Mission of Mercy. Outside of the office, some of her interests are holistic medicine, playing piano, shopping and supporting her sons who participate in Little League Football in Acworth. Dr. Wadley joined DentFirst in October of 2012 and enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially implant restorations and cosmetic dentistry.

Dr. Freddie Wakefield, Jr., DMD

Dr. Wakefield was born in Sandersville, Georgia and grew up in Quitman, Georgia, where he was President of the Student Government, awarded the J.B. Stevens Award for Best All-Around Student, captain of the football team, and the recipient of numerous academic awards and scholarships. While attending Fort Valley State University, he was Drum Major for the “Blue Machine” Marching Band, member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honor Society. At the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Wakefield was President of the Student National Dental Association.

When not seeing patients, he can be found at weddings, churches, and Jazz clubs playing saxophone, or at charity golf tournaments.

Dr. Wakefield joined DentFirst in 2000 and currently practices in the McDonoughDuluthPerimeter, and Lenox offices.

Dr. Ronald M. Wand, DMD

Dr. Ronald Wand received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis with a double major in psychology and biology. He then went on to dental school at Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the city in which he was born and raised. It was there where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery(DDS) in 1971, graduating with honors.

After graduation, he was fortunate enough to have the experience of a General Practice Residency at William Beaumont General Hospital in El Paso, Texas followed by serving 2 years as the chief dental officer at Fort Gillem in Atlanta.

In the mid 1970’s he began his private practice along with teaching clinical dentistry for 10 years at Emory University as a part time faculty member. Dr. Wand has since continued his education with many annual post graduate courses (more than 600 hrs) in restorative, implant and cosmetic dentistry. Most recently, had the distinct honor of being voted by his peers as one of Atlanta areas Top Dentist (Atlanta Magazine January 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014).

Dr. Wand has been married to his wife Linda for over 23 years and they have 5 adult children between them. He loves to spend his free time with his children and grandchildren. His hobbies and passions include photography, gardening, traveling, exercising and relaxing at the beach in Seagrove Beach, Florida.

Dr. Wand specializes in Dental Implants, Cosmetic Dentistry, Porcelain Veneers/Laminates, Teeth Whitening, Crown and Bridge, Sleep and snoring appliances, Periodontal Treatment, Tooth colored fillings and bonding, Root canal therapy, Oral Surgery (extractions), Oral Cancer Screenings, Removable dentures and Emergency Dental Care.

He is a member of the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, Hinman Dental Society, Northern District Dental Society, Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity (former Chapter President), and American Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. David Webb, DMD

Dr. David Webb was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Norcross. He attended Georgia State University where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Biology in 1971. Following the completion of his undergraduate degree, he attended the Medical College of Georgia’s School of Dentistry where he graduated in 1974. Dr. Webb is married with two children and loves to study aviation when he is not practicing dentistry. He was also an Assistant Professor at the Medical College of Georgia’s School of Dentistry from 2010-2015. Dr. Webb rejoined DentFirst in 2015 after working for us in 1988. Dr. Daniel West, DMD

Dr. West was born in Knoxville and grew up in Algood, Tennessee. He was a wide receiver for his High School varsity football team in Cookeville, as well as a winner of national awards in home appliance repair contests! Daniel was a Dean’s List student both in College and in Dental School and, before deciding to specialize in Periodontics, he practiced General Dentistry for a year in Nashville. He now loves helping his patients with all aspects of complete periodontal care including implantology. Daniel currently lives in Gwinnett County and, when not treating patients, enjoys wilderness tent camping, white water rafting, seeing every new movie which comes out and amusement parks – he lives on roller coasters! (Ask him about the Cedar Point ride).

Daniel also enjoys flying and is well on his way to getting his private pilot’s license. Dr. West is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Southern Academy of Periodontology and the Americal Dental Association.
