Dr. Wakefield was born in Sandersville, Georgia and grew up in Quitman,
Georgia where he was captain of the Brooks County High School football
team, and where both of his parents were teachers (his only failing grade
ever was from his own Mother!) While attending Ft. Valley University he
participated in the band corps as a drum major, played on the college baseball team,
and published a paper about tooth decay in the Journal of Beta Kappa Chi, the
scientific honor society. During dental school, Dr. Wakefield was president of the
Student National Dental Association and a member of the American Student Dental
Association. After graduation from Dental School, he became the dental director
for the Valdosta Correctional Institution where he honed his surgery skills;
his favorite aspect of dentistry. When he isn't seeing patients, you can find
him playing the soprano sax at weddings and churches, spending time with his family,
going to movies, and working out. He loves to travel with the Dominican Republic as
his favorite spot so far! Dr. Wakefield joined DentFirst in 2000, currently resides
in Dunwoody and treats patients in our Jonesboro, Cobb, and McDonough offices.
