Dr. Billingsley was born in Pasadena, California and grew up in Durango, Colorado where he played both varsity football and basketball in high school. He also played football at West Point, becoming an artillery battery commander after graduation. His father, a dentist, encouraged both Mike and his sister to attend dental school at his alma matter in Kansas City. Dr. Billingsley continued his training with a general dentistry internship at Ft. Bragg, followed by his surgical residency at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio. His Army career included assignments in West Point, New York, Landstuhl, Germany, and finally as Chief of both the Department of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service in Fort Carson, Colorado where he also trained dental residents in advanced oral surgery techniques. After retiring from the Army in 1988 with the rank of Colonial, Dr. Billingsley practiced oral surgery in Colorado Springs, Colorado for ten years during which time he actively participated in many community service programs such as the Memorial Hospital Cleft Palate Clinic, the Colorado Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped, and Doctors With a Heart. In 2008, he and his wife decided to relocate to Georgia so that they could be closer to their daughter and three grandchildren. They now live in Gwinnett County and hope to add a golden retriever to their home soon! In his spare time, Mike enjoys hunting, fly-fishing, and golf. Dr. Billingsley is a member of the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, Northern District Dental Society, International Congress of Implantology, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and he loves helping his patients with all aspects of oral surgery and implantology.
